My sIster is a VA

My sister types with a vengeance. I’m not kidding. You can hear her keyboard clicking from across the apartment, a staccato rhythm of destruction. She claims it helps her concentrate. She needs all the concentration she can get, seeing as she’s a Virtual Assassin. Okay, okay, before you call the cops, it’s not *that* kind of assassin. My sister, Maya, is a VA, but not the real-world, kill-you-and-your-whole-family kind. She’s a Virtual Assistant. Except, she’s *really* good at it. She started out like any other VA: scheduling appointments, answering emails, the usual admin stuff. Boring. Maya hates boring. So, she niched down. Now, she “eliminates obstacles” for high-powered CEOs. Obstacles, in this case, being anything from a nasty online rumor to a disgruntled employee. She’s like a digital Marie Kondo, but instead of sparking joy, she sparks… lawsuits. One day, I found her staring intently at her screen, a disturbingly serene smile on her face. “Whatcha doing?” I asked, peering over her shoulder. “Taking down a troll,” she chirped, her fingers flying across the keyboard. “This guy’s been harassing my client’s daughter online. Time for him to… disappear.” I watched, fascinated and a little horrified, as she worked. It was like watching a surgeon perform a delicate operation, except the patient was some poor dude’s online reputation. She tracked him down, exposed his hypocrisy, and within hours, he’d deleted his accounts and vanished from the internet. “You know,” I said, “that’s… kind of terrifying.” Maya shrugged. “Someone’s gotta do it. Besides, I only go after the really bad guys. The ones who deserve it.” I still get uneasy when I hear her furiously typing away. I’m sure she’s just scheduling meetings or writing reports. But sometimes, late at night, I can’t help but wonder if she’s out there, in the digital shadows, deleting someone’s online existence. And honestly? Part of me is a little proud. My sister, the Virtual Assassin. She's a force to be reckoned with, one keystroke at a time.
