Spring Up, O Well (Numbers 21:17–18)
A contemporary musical setting of the Song of the Well preserved in Numbers 21:17–18. The English lyric is freshly rendered from the Hebrew poetic lines. It addresses the well, calls the people to sing, and remembers the princes and nobles associated with digging it. “Scepter” follows one established understanding of the expression translated “lawgiver” in the NKJV. Musical repetition develops the short text without adding new lyrical claims. The surrounding travel itinerary is not included as lyrics. New music. Ancient words celebrating a well.
